Spiders and Other Invertebrates of Skellig Michael - Summary Report

Skellig Michael was visited on a number of occasions through the summers of 2023 and 2024 with the object of surveying spiders and other invertebrates on the island. This summary report details some of the results so far obtained, offering a list of the spiders including numbers of specimens seen.

Winter Solstice Phenomenon at Newgrange: Research Report 2024

This report, commissioned by the National Monuments Service presents a comprehensive analysis of the high-resolution photographic and video recordings of the solar illumination inside the burial chamber at Newgrange passage tomb, located within the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Brú na Bóinne – Archaeological Ensemble of the Bend of the Boyne.

This is the Final Report for a rescue excavation commissioned by the National Monuments Service in 2023 on an area of ground at the Upper Lighthouse on Sceilg Mhichíl that is the subject of erosion from increased storminess and precipitation.

A Guide to World Heritage Nomination - World Heritage Advice Series No. 1

‘A Guide to World Heritage Nomination’ has been developed by the National Monuments Service with international best practice in mind. This guide aims to assist local authorities that are working to progress the nomination of sites on Ireland’s UNESCO World Heritage Tentative List.
The publication is the first in a new World Heritage Advice Series to assist members of the public and key stakeholders in understanding the various World Heritage processes and requirements within an Irish context.
